Us

They took from us an innocence we never really had. They took from us a symbol of our prosperity. They took from us the lives of innocent's. They took from us the people that went to save them. They took from us the lives of those that went to avenge them.

They took from us our ability to respect their defferences. They took from us our ability to think of them as regular humans. They took from us our ability to forgive. They took from us our ability to think of them as friends.

Through their ignorance, and faith, they were able to take so much from us, but we will still remain. After all their efforts to shunt us from the face of the Earth, we'll still be what we are, and we'll remember.

Rember that we are the most forgiving people on this planet. Remember that after the ceremonies, the pain subsides. Remember that to take our retribution will require some sacrifice. Remember what we all felt on that day. Remember that we are all humans despite what our upbringing is. Remember our fear.

But most of all, Remember that the guilty must pay. For all the things that they took from us.

(bowing head) Johhny-Oh, you've said it. You've done a hell of a job summarizing my feelings. Thanks, man.

I'll have to come back later to check your other stuff.

Thanks again, bro.

Yes...As I read, I was nodding my head. I told this to someone once, it changed me for better or for worse. I don't know yet. But they did take from me that thing that I was so proud of. I had never looked at another human being and considered their color, their origins, their culture before I considered them worthy of my trust. Today, everytime I look at someone that might even remotely be from the middle east, I try to discern their motives for being where they are, being what they are.

I did not lose anyone I knew in the attacks, but I did lose part of me.

That was enough.

Well said. We're "used" to terrorism over here. My Dad narrowly escaped being killed by the I.R.A on three occasions. That was just from being a normal commuter going in to London every day for 30 years. Someone up there likes him...

911 was something else. I'll never forget, and I'll raise our daughter to remember. Thanks for that.

My boys will never remember what it was like before 9/11. This is all they know.

Excellent post.
