Tech - Support and Blogging on the road

I got the call to come over to my blogless sister's house to help out installing her new ADSL to their second computer. so what am I doing? Blogging from her "Main box" while the installation is taking place on the other one. Yeesh I'm a geek. My Sister has made a run for a twelve-pack and some grub, so I'll be able to guage the complexity of the problem, by the number of beer cans stacked beside the PC. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Hey, at least you get to drive there Johnny. I get all kinds of problems via the phone (2.5 hours drive to my folks house) plus buying IT equipment for my brother in laws engineering firm, sorting out Sally's family with computers and the occasional client here who finds out I used to fix computers... It all sucks except when people say thanks and appreciate it - I am glad your family do!

I know what you mean Alex. I've actually lost a few friends over the fact that I cn fix a PC. Every time I'd drop by, I wound up fixing something, or teaching something, or recommending something in regards to their computer. It got so bad, that I just quit coming around. Haven't talked to them in better than 6 years. Luckily, I don't mind helping out my immediate family. It gives me an excuse to spend some time with them.
